Prayer Space
Prayer Space is an opportunity for quiet, personal prayer and time with God.
At Prayer Space, the church is set up for us with several stations
. These are areas for us to visit. We can spend as little or as much time with each as we want. The stations are there to offer prompts or guidance.
Modern psychology and neuroscience emphasize that cognition is embodied — we do not just think: we experience meaning through physical interaction.
And physical gestures serve to:
- anchor intention
- create memory
- increase emotional processing
- signal commitment
When someone places a stone in a basket and says, I leave this with you
, the brain encodes that action differently than simply thinking the thought.
Our connection with God is also enriched by these types of action.
Please don’t think that it is a time of challenge, that people will be watching you, or that you need to be a special kind of person to attend. We are all different and Prayer Space offers an opportunity for you to have time, without pressure, to respond as you wish.
We ask one thing — that we keep chatter to a minimum and that we interact with the stations individually.
We meet from 6:30pm to 7:30pm on the second Sunday of the month.
Prayer Space can be described as a spa for your soul. So come and be refreshed by quiet and stillness.
