Holy Communion Services

cross

Celebrating Holy Communion is an important part of our worship life. We share communion together to remember the last supper Jesus shared with his disciples before his crucifixion. It was then that he asked his followers to share bread and wine in remembrance of him.

At Solihull Methodist Church we have three different styles of worship at which we celebrate Holy Communion.

  • Family Communion Service at 10.30am, usually on the second Sunday in each month, as part of our family worship. Our children and young people join us from their activities towards the end of the service so that we can all share communion together as a church family.

  • Midweek Communion Service at 9.30am every Tuesday morning, in the Margaret Wharam Room. This is a short service of about half an hour.

  • Reflective Communion Service at 6.30pm, usually on the fourth Sunday in each month. There is the opportunity to ask for prayer for healing. This is a quiet, reflective service, often with prayers and liturgy from the Iona Community and Taize-style music. People are invited, a few at a time, to the communion rail at the far end of the chancel to take communion. After receiving the elements, they can either return to their seats or remain at the rail to ask for prayer for themselves, their loved ones or a situation on their hearts. Two people will pray with them, very discreetly, at a distance from the rest of the congregation. There is no obligation to ask for prayer, but many people find it helpful.

Everyone is welcome at any of these services.
