The Alpha Course is a non-threatening and enjoyable way to explore the basic beliefs of the Christian faith in a relaxed environment. Alpha provides an opportunity to discuss questions about God, Christianity and the meaning of life in an informal, friendly way while enjoying a meal together with others. Everyone is welcome!
The Alpha course is open to anyone. No matter what you believe- whether you are a practising Christian, simply exploring or have no faith at all. No background knowledge or belief in Christianity is needed. Come and ask those difficult questions – no question is out of bounds and you are free to discuss as much or as little as you wish.
The 11 week course covers the following topics
- Christianity: Boring, untrue or irrelevant?
- Who is Jesus?
- Why did Jesus die?
- How can we have faith?
- Why and how do I pray?
- Why and how should I read the Bible?
- How does God guide us?
- How can I resist evil?
- Why and how should I tell others?
- Does God heal today?
- What about the church?
There is also an additional Saturday session, in a different but nearby location where we think about Who is the Holy Spirit? What does the Holy Spirit do? How can I be filled with the Holy Spirit?
Courses run according to demand – at least once, sometimes twice a year, with between twelve and twenty on each course. Our next course will run in April-June 2016.
Youth Alpha courses are run separately to provide teenagers the opportunity to ask their own questions.
