Worship
What to expect
We hold a 9:00am Communion service on the first Sunday of each month. This act of worship lasts about 45-50 minutes and usually attracts a congregation of around 20-24. The service will contain 2 or 3 hymns and a sermon in addition to the act of Holy Communion.
Our largest service of the week takes place at 10:30am every week. It may be led by our own minister, Rev Mike Crockett, or by another minister or preacher from within the Birmingham Elmdon Circuit. It is a lively, but traditional service, with youngsters from the Junior Church in attendance for the early part of the service, before leaving for their own classes. The worship will contain a number of hymns, with music usually led by our organ, but occasionally by a music group or singers. The congregation will normally be about 150 people. On the first Sunday of the month we would usually have a service of All Age Worship, and on the second Sunday of the month, Holy Communion is normally celebrated within this service. For those with very young children, a crèche is usually available to look after your children if you wish, so that you can concentrate on worshipping.
The evening service, held at 6:30pm is held in the chancel of the church each week and is a much smaller service than the morning worship, with a congregation of around 12-15. It is generally a quieter, more reflective and exploratory service than in the morning. Holy Communion is usually celebrated on the 3rd Sunday evening of each month.
On the 1st Sunday every month, the evening service is replaced by Pulse, held in the Church Hall. This is a much more contemporary evening service aimed at teenagers and younger adults, although of course, all ages are welcome.
We also hold a midweek service of Holy Communion every Tuesday morning at 9:30am. This service is a short, 30-minute service with a short address but no hymns, and is held in one of the smaller rooms within the main church building.
Note that for all our Holy Communion services we invite anyone who loves the Lord Jesus to partake in the bread and wine, with no restrictions or inquisition!
